So we’ve officially started the TaD session!

Today we participated in the EVO Kick-Off Session during which all the moderators introduced the 14 sessions so that participants could choose what suited best their professional development needs. The session was hosted by Vance Stevens and Jeff Lebow paid a visit too. They have both been part of the EVO for many years so it was interesting to listen to them. Jeff commented on how overwhelming the EVO can be, especially at the beginning but in his opinion embracing the chaos is the best strategy. I couldn’t agree more. Any new learning experience, either face-to-face or online, can be daunting at first but soon things fall into place. Many people present during the Kick-off session commented on how supportive the community is and what a wonderful learning experience the sessions can be.

We hope the TaD session will not be an exception here. We’ve got just over 200 registrants at the moment. The Padlet is filling up with ideas. There are already a few responses to our survey. Things may be challenging at the beginning and in fact we experienced some problems with enrolment last week – some participants could not complete their registration as the verification email was not sent. This technical glitch has now been resolved and we are grateful to those participants who have persevered. They are all now settling down within the TaD learning environments. The community is slowly forming and hopefully we will have lots of collaboration and interaction in the forums. The first week’s activities have been now made available and we are waiting impatiently for the participants to get started. Of course, there is some trepidation too – will the technology work, will the activities appeal to the participants, will they comment on each other’s contributions, will we be able to help build a satisfying and meaningul experience? The beginnings are daunting but exciting nevertheless!

Here is to the growth of the community of learning designers! This is what we are going to do in the next 5 weeks!

How are you feeling right now? Did you attend the Kick-Off session? Do you have any questions for us regarding the session? Please ask them here or via the contact form.
